Bcbg max mara has been made popular not just by the celebrities who wear it on the red carpet, but by the real women who wear the clothes in their every day lives. Max Azria wanted to create a look for real women that involved real clothes and he certainly has done that. In the sixteen years that he’s designed and ran the BCBG Company, he has managed to create a look that is beautiful and functional. Max himself calls his clothing “a true combination of European sophistication and American spirit.”

BCBG is named after the French phrase “Bon Chic Bon Genre.” Roughly translated, it's French Slang for “Good style, good attitude.” The clothing in the BCBG max mara line certainly fits the bill.

Max himself was born in Tunisia and went to Paris as a teenager with the intention to study acting but ended up designing women’s clothing instead. After making a name for himself in Paris, He moved to the United States. Once in the United States he created Jess, a line of retail clothing boutiques for women and then went on to create BCBG in 1989. As a well respected business person as well as an acclaimed fashion designer Max and his wife are still designing and expanding their business. The first stand alone Max Azria boutiques were built in 2006 and 2007. And, of course, you can find their clothing in traditional department stores, catalogues and online at the BCBG website.
